Please note that from 27th April 2026 I have decided to no longer offer ENG1 medical examinations.

I am grateful to all seafarers who I have met over the past 7 years for these assessments. For ongoing ENG1 certification needs, please refer to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) website for a list of approved doctors.

I have been an Approved Doctor for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) since 2019. I used to work out of St Thomas Medical Group but have now moved rooms to Southernhay.

I am unable to provide pre-appointment advice on whether an ENG1 is suitable for your situation, or whether you are likely to pass the medical. The purpose of the medical is to assess the seafarer against the standards provided by the MCA.
